Skating Wear - Proper Fit

When fitting an ice skating dress or dance clothes there are many things to consider. Overall comfort and snugness through the torso, arm length, mobility and of course, presentation.

Here are some tips on getting a properly fitting skating dress, warm up skirt or dance clothing.

Snug or Loose?

Although it’s a personal preference there are some facts to take into consideration. If a figure skating dress or your dance pants are too loose they will turn on your body. This affects the look and presentation. If it is very loose, it can get caught on your skates and potentiallly inhibit your performance. You want the skating dress to follow your movement as naturally as possible and not shift or twist. If it is too snug, the skating dress will affect your comfort level.

One way to measure yourself is to use the five areas described here: Torso, Inseam, Bust, Waist and Hip.
